SHA-256, Scrypt, or Hybrid

Depending on the digital currency being mined, you will need to make changes to your hardware and software. Bitcoin runs on the SHA-256 hashing algorithm, but other popular coins like Litecoin run on Scrypt hashing algorithm. GPU and ASIC Mining

Depending on the coin being mined, you will need different forms of hardware. Smaller digital currencies can be mined with your CPU or GPU (graphics card).
